Ottawa, ON – After eight years of Justin Trudeau, life has never been more expensive. In a single month last year, there were two million visits to food banks in Canada, and ‘dumpster diving’ groups are being organized in our cities because people can’t afford to eat, heat or house themselves.

Today, the Canadian charity, Second Harvest, revealed that there will be no relief for Canadians in 2024. Food charities are expecting an 18 percent increase in demand in 2024, which translates into another million people having to rely on food banks to survive.

On top of this, 36 percent of not-for-profits reported having to turn hungry people away from their facility because they simply couldn’t keep up with demand. In Toronto, that number increased to 50 percent.

In Toronto alone, there were 2.53 million food bank visits between April 2022 and March 2023, with one in ten people in Toronto having to rely on food banks, according to the Daily Bread Food Bank’s annual Who’s Hungry Report.

Canadians are visiting food banks in record numbers because Trudeau’s inflationary taxes and spending is driving up the cost of everything. His Liberal Government doesn’t understand that if you tax the farmer who grows the food, and the trucker who ships the food, you end up taxing the Canadian who buys the food.

Only Common Sense Conservatives will bring home lower prices by axing the tax on groceries.
